The Bee Shop is pleased to announce support through the My Main Street program, the Canadian Urban Institute, and the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

This generous grant has allowed The Bee Shop to do several improvments among which are a special storefront entrance mural highlighting an amazing feature that honeybees have of being able to see in ultraviolet.

For example we as humans see only the yellow of a dandelion flower whereas honeybees with their 3 ocelli, or tiny dot eyes on their forehead see the same dandelion in UV with a target and where the flower has nectar and pollen it is revealed in UV to them as being luminscent.

This is one  of the reasons that makes honeybees to be such exceptional polinators who are extremely beneficial and vitally important in helping to ensure our nation's food supply.
